VIRUS VIRUS VIRUS , I HATE EM

Postby [Aliens]solifer » Tue Oct 14, 2008 6:33 am

Installed a small utility yesterday , and it was infected as hell , so my vista broke down completely :x :x :x :x
So i felt ok lucky me i got more systems installed, so i booted up XP as i was going for a virus search, but DAMN i forgot to shutdown pc to remove any virus in memory :x
SO I GOT XP infected to :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

I got one more card to play though, i also have Linux Ubuntu, so at the moment i am trying a online virus search in ubuntu , i really hope that will work.

So far i found this, so it gives me hope, guess the rest of my day before work will be to resolve this f*cking mess, KILL THE VIRUS MAKERS, why are they doing so , cant get any credits for it, cant make money either, meaning good virus makers could easily make some good stuff instead and also making money :x :x :x :x

Scan statistics
Files scanned 34655

Suspicious objects 0

Soli, do this on both systems, if you can. If not, just do it on one of them, but leave the other one alone for now.

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I'll work on it as priority tonight, 5pm GMT

Which program are you using to scan? Panda and others do give false possitives, so you may be removing things that are not malware.

Its why we always ask for a log of these, before we remove anything, just in case.

If its AVG or something like that, it should be okay

Yep, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is very good, especially lately as some of the top security experts are now on the team. And for your infection, its a very good start:

This is what I would do first, then if you can get an HijackThis log, that would be even better...after running MBAM.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe or http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_ ... d5756.html

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.
