Scrambler

Here we discuss our servers, and what's going on there...

Scrambler

Postby [Aliens]kronenbourg » Sun Jul 20, 2014 1:42 pm

Hi

Setting up a scrambler so that inbetween rounds, the teams are scrambled. The reason is due to many things, but one that stands out is if a side is dominating one round, and the next and the next with the exact same players, many on the other team leave.

So, a scrambler will balnce things out.

Also, looking at the autobalence in detail, as it ws set strange. For example, Rush was set to balence after 5 mins!!!! How crap is that if you're defending with 5, and the enmy has 10 or more.

Does the scrambler only work if the ticket difference is too big?

Belive me Witty, the plugin for this setting is a real git. Just spent the past few hours going through it

Okay, so the actual Scrambler only kicks in at the end of a round, and its based on Ticket difference. You may have been on some servers where you see people moving around at the part whilst waiting for the new round to begin.

I'll copy/paste what it is here:

Only On Final Ticket Percentage >=: Number greater than 100 or equal to 0, default 120. This is the ratio between the winning and losing teams final ticket counts at the end of the round. In count-down modes like Conquest, this is the ratio of the difference between the maximum starting tickets and the final ticket count. For example, on a 1000 ticket server, if the final ticket counts are 0/250, the ratio is (1000-0)/(1000-250)=1000/750=133%. Since that is greater than 120, scrambling would be done. For count-up modes like TDM, the ratio is final ticket values. If this value is set to 0, scrambling will occur regardless of final ticket counts.

So, ours is set to 120 by default. Also, was looking at tha actual autobalence, and I was looking at the recommended setting by Procon etc, and we were way out. For example, in som modes it was set to check after 5 mins from start.

That means for 5 minutes, if unbalenced, nothing happens. You had to wait for 5 mins to pass.

Set these to 1 minute now.

Some of the newer modes like Chainlink aren't on yet, so ignore those. We'll have to manually move.

Its a work in progress, we'll just have to test to see how it goes over the many modes etc

May have a reason for it screwing up, so we couldn't join: there was a plugin update for the autobalencer. This has now been installed, and all settings back to default.

But enabled the scrambler at the end of the round. This was just a swap from False to True
